Bad SEO Practices That can Harm Your Seo Efforts

Search Engine Optimization is the only way to improve your visibility in various popular search engines. Google is the leader in this section and has very strict norms and regulations as to how the pages should be made and organized so that they are friendly to the bots that are sent by Google.
As told SEO is an art rather than a technique. It requires a lot of skill and practice from your side in order to perfect this art. As we say too many cooks spoil the broth, the same applies here. Overdoing SEO can cause a tremendous harm to your website. Here are some of the bad practices that are done by the bloggers and administrators in order to reach to the top results of the search engines.
  1. Keywords are the main part of any post. You should highlight them with different font and colour. They must be placed adequately across the different parts of the page. Using malicious JavaScript and CSS tweaks that embed the hidden keywords on page is a bad practice and must be avoided then and there. These scripts tend to increase the density of the keywords artificially. Stuffing keywords is another bad practice that should be avoided.
  2. Google Page Rank (PR) Algorithm is the major driving factor that powers all the search results today. Thus all the bloggers and site administrators make efforts and adopt techniques so that their PR improves. Paid posts and link exchanges are some of the techniques that might help you in improve the rank initially but then it will stagnate or fell down later on. Many admins unnecessarily submit their web sites to the search engines which is also a bad practice.
  3. Links are the important factor that improves the PageRank of your website. Thus placing the links of some third party websites is usually not recommended because they will be marked as link farms by the search engines. If you really want to have some quality backlinks then you can consider submitting your website to open directories. Link Exchange and placing all the links that point to your homepage is another bad practice that you shouldn’t indulge in. All your links should point to the relevant parts of your website.
  4. Cloaking is another malpractice that is used by spammer and search engine optimizers to inflate their rankings in the search results. This black hat SEO technique fools the search engine by presenting different faces of the same website to the user based on the IP Address and HTTP requests. It is difficult to detect cloaking but when it is detected the engines simply ignore your website.
  5. Spell check is another checkpoint that you must follow. It was a technique that was used by spammers a few years ago where they used misspelled words in order to get the high rankings in the search results. But today the search engines have become more intelligent and thus mark those sites that as spam and put them in their black lists. They will simply ignore your website.
